Complaint alleges dark money nonprofit supporting Republican gubernatorial candidate Bridget Barton violated federal tax law.
A dark money group supporting Republican gubernatorial candidate Bridget Barton faces the possibility of a federal investigation after a political consultant for a competitor in the governor’s race filed complaints alleging the group might have violated U.S. tax law.
Trey Rosser, campaign manager for Republican candidate Christine Drazan, sent letters Wednesday to the IRS, U.S. Department of Justice, Oregon Department of Justice and Oregon Secretary of State alleging that Oregon Pathfinder might have spent more than the allowed amount for a political nonprofit to directly influence an election.

 A new, mysterious super PAC has dropped close to $1 million in a hotly contested Democratic House primary — but thanks to a quirk in the federal campaign finance system, the public won’t know who is funding it until after the primary. That's not an accident.

Justice Unites Us PAC — a new super PAC that describes itself as “a data-driven organization that uses research to drive grassroots engagement in the Asian American community” — disclosed more than $846,000 in independent expenditures for field operations to boost Carrick Flynn, who is running in the Democratic primary in Oregon’s new sixth congressional district.

Campaign finance reports: 2.5% of Carrick Flynn's donors live in Oregon​

​Of the $817,254 in itemized individual contributions to the campaign of Carrick Flynn, candidate for Oregon's Sixth Congressional District, only 2.5% were from Oregon-based donors, according to recently published federal campaign finance data.
Most of his itemized contributions came from California and New York, representing 43.1% and 12.6% of his total, respectively.
